At Clarity, we believe in a wrap-around approach to providing compassionate, personalized mental health support.  Our in-house, multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists and psychotherapists working together in a private practice clinic.  Our clinicians work collaboratively, drawing upon their specialized training and professional experience to diagnose conditions, treat symptoms, and support long-term success.

Emily is an experienced and compassionate clinical director with a career spanning over 25 years. She has dedicated her life to helping individuals, couples, and families overcome challenges and achieve lasting positive change. Her innovative approach to addressing the diverse needs of her clients sets her apart as a leader in her field.

As the clinical director and clinical supervisor at Clarity Counseling and Wellness, Emily brings a wealth of experience, a compassionate approach, and an unwavering commitment to her clients' success. Emily’s early career includes 11 years at San Mateo County Mental Health, where she worked closely with high-risk teens at the Juvenile Hall and Therapeutic Day School Unit. Recognizing the need for comprehensive support for at-risk teens who did not fit into traditional outpatient or high-risk programs, she developed a school based mental health program to provide high-risk and mid-range support for vulnerable adolescents within the Cabrillo Unified High School District. In 2006, Emily took her passion for helping others to the next level by establishing her private practice.

Emily places an emphasis on providing real-time relief from emotional pain while maintaining a focus on long-term personal growth. Her clients consistently praise her ability to create a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their concerns openly and honestly. In addition to her clinical work, Emily is actively involved in training and mentoring aspiring therapists. Her dedication to comprehensive care makes her an invaluable asset to both her team and her clients.

She believe in the power of active listening and establishing a strong therapeutic alliance to foster healing and growth. Stephanie has worked extensively with adolescents, helping them to overcome their unique challenges and thrive amidst adversity. With a particular interest and ample experience in prenatal and perinatal therapy, she aids parents in navigating the emotional journey of parenthood.

Catharine is passionate about helping clients develop the skills to live fulfilling lives. She engages clients with a warm, empathic, and active therapy style, helping clients reach their goals by providing clinical expertise, education, and compassion in a non-judgmental space. 

Catharine brings a trauma-informed, client-centered, attachment-focused lens to therapy. She specializes in anxiety, depression, ADHD, motherhood and finding happiness for her clients. Her experience includes work with emerging adults and their parents in transition towards independence, self-assurance, and identity exploration. 

Catharine studied Psychology at Berkeley, and returned to her passion two careers and two children later. She is mother to two teenagers, and loves to travel, practice yoga, spend time with friends and family, and find humor in the little things.

Caitlin is a San Carlos native with a background in elementary education. Her clinical work is focused predominantly on adolescents and young adults, however she fosters an inviting and safe space for clients of all ages.  

 

Caitlin works with each client to understand their unique situation, guiding them to achieve their therapy goals through exploration and transformation.  Her CBT approach to therapy empowers clients to challenge their maladaptive thought patterns and take back control of their lives. She believes laughter is one of the best medicines and takes care to connect deeply with every client, weaving humor and levity into sessions when appropriate.

Michelle Lew

Michelle specializes in therapeutic work with couples and families. Combining her clinical expertise with her volunteer work at Mentoring Mothers, she has strong experience providing support to new moms dealing with postpartum anxiety and depression, as well as offering crisis intervention and strength-based care to high-conflict and high-risk families. 

 

Michelle's passion lies in addressing multi-generational trauma, and she employs a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic perspectives. Her approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of the complexities of each individual's journey.

As a San Carlos native, Kathryn is honored to serve the community that she grew up in. She works primarily with couples, adults, mothers, and teens, providing a safe and empathic space for clients to grow and shine light on their strengths. 

 

Kathryn enjoys working from a psychodynamic foundation, incorporating several different treatment modalities and interventions including talk therapy, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. Her approach is centered around discovering and developing the unique qualities and resources within each individual client. 

 

In her personal time, Kathryn enjoys reading, yoga, cooking, the beach and travel. She lives with her husband and three daughters and relishes the quality time they share together.

Susan Pagor

Executive Functioning Coach ADHD

Susan works with clients to understand how ADHD affects their lives and find ways to manage it effectively. Acknowledging the biological underpinnings and core symptoms of the disorder (inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity), Susan addresses the academic, vocational, emotional and interpersonal life difficulties that are a result of these symptoms and helps clients find ways to overcome these challenges. 

Susan uses her executive coaching skills helps people with ADHD carry out the practical activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented and timely fashion, translate abstract goals into concrete actions, build motivation. 

Through individualized support, she guides clients toward maintaining focus on their personal goals and developing resilience in the face of obstacles. Specific areas of work may include communication strategies, stress management, health and wellness,  social skills and self-esteem, and improving professional skills like meeting management, leadership, presentation, and delegation skills.

Angela is responsible for managing office operations to ensure all clients receive high-quality, efficient attention. She supports the Clarity staff and existing clients with scheduling, billing and accurate documentation of account activity.

Brooklyn Therapy Dog

BROOKLYN

Therapy Dog (in training)

Brooklyn is a labradoodle puppy, in training to be a psychiatric service dog. She provides comfort and cuddles during sessions and a calm and sweet presence in the therapy office. She currently works exclusively with Stephanie Moody but will be expanding her network as she gains more skills. When she is not training to be a therapy pup, she enjoys long walks around the neighborhood, chasing a ball and snuggling with her people.
